Anfinsen seems to know where he is going with much of his work, the characters are different from one another and he rarely breaks character. “Jason Anfinsen as Billy’s father captures some classic facial and verbal dad-isms, my favorite being the ‘reading face’—oversize bifocals perched on the end of nose, document at arm’s length, lips moving like an agitated goldfish.“

A standout turn from Jason Anfinsen
Jason Anfinsen's "Rebel" gets off some smart quips.
Once the players sink their, uh, teeth into the dramatic action, they're as intelligent as the horror-flick and improv-comedy genres allow.
In the tradition of Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, Scary Movie and Weekend at Bernie's 2, comes: Terrorslide! A fully improvised horror movie spoof. Taking a suggestion of a location and a murder weapon, The Playground Theater's member ensemble Mr. FancyPants sends up all of the conventions and stereotypes of the modern horror movie.

D & J were called "wickedly funny" by NOW Toronto Magazine.
Press
"Last year's Toronto International Improv Festival was marred by the blackout, but this year's - which wrapped up Sunday - had no shortage of bright lights. D & J, a two-person outfit from Chicago, succeeded with high energy and verbal dexterity in their series of scenes set in and around city hall. Like a Quentin Tarantino character, Jason Anfinsen created a bailiff with an attitude problem who prevented a woman ( Dori Goldman ) from entering the courtroom. Later she played a woman on death row to his overweight prison warden, and then the two played maverick lawyers."
"First-rate."
"D & J saved an otherwise dreary and uninspired program."
Jon Kaplan, NOW Toronto Magazine (festival review)

Jason Anfinsen conceived a learning extravaganza based in improvisational theatre that creatively combined with live music, spontaneous sing-a-longs, and artistic scenery made by comedic actors, live on the spot.
Jason’s creation became Hogwash: An improvised tall tall for small children, which dazzled audiences and empowered communities in theaters, schools, and private events throughout Chicago and Seattle from 2004 – 2008.
MISSION
Hogwash encourages creative problem solving and early arts appreciation by empowering an inter-generational audience to take an active roll in arts-integrated character and story development.
Hogwash is an hour-long improvised experience, fueled by suggestions from the children who choose the characters, plot developments and outcome of the show. Graphic artists are scattered throughout the theater, painting, coloring, and creating the backdrops, props and set decorations for these stories live on the spot, as a guitarist every dramatic aspect of the performance live. Actors and artists entertain, color, and face paint before shows, making the whole experience of Hogwash begin from the moment the children and their family walk through the door.
Hogwash integrates acting, storytelling, drama, music, and art into one colorful hour of improvisation that is driven by the imaginations of the audience. Fueled by the suggestions of children and parents, our veteran actors create a spontaneous universe of magical characters, strange animals, and grounded human situations. As the various story lines develop, a live band scores the scene with on the spot music, while graphic artists paint, scribble, cut and paste the corresponding costumes, props, and environment. Kids, moms, dads, everyone is encouraged to join the actors on stage for audience participation that ranges from limbo contests to rescuing princesses to loud sing-a-longs.

Kitchen Sink was a weekly arts festival that showcased new talent, independent from an existing theater in Chicago, and featured a rotating cast of alternative comedians, stand-up comics, sketch groups, musicians, and bizarre storytellers.
Described by show creator and artistic director of Jerk Alert Productions Jason Anfinsen as "an extravaganza of the weekly weird in Chicago,” Kitchen Sink was a vital platform for electric and electric groups such as Light FM, Velvet Tom, Jill Bernard’s Drum Machine, The Mike and Duane Show, Thea Lux, A Girl and a Gun, Hans and Robyn, Dugan & Ginex, American Dream, and Superpunk.
The international touring duo D & J performed their spastic long-form improvisation each week in the Kitchen Sink, which ran off and on from 2003 - 2005 at the nation's only non for profit improv theater, The Playground in Chicago Illinois.

MAKE BELIEVE THEATER
2005 - 2006 Seattle
STIMULUS is an improvisational experiment, infusing pulsating lights and live music to bring exciting stories, characters and themes full circle for an evening of make believe theater. A cast of five actors (Stimulators), band, and light technician create the entire improvised piece on the spot, scriptless and fearless, through a barrage of sound, movement, and comedic characters, who weave their way through a series of wild scenes scored by songs, monologues, and instant hilarity.
STIMULUS has been called “FIERCE” by SeattleActor.com and the Seattle Gay News declares, "If you like your improv over the top, you’ll love this show!“.
STIMULUS had two successful runs at the East Hall Theater and NW Actor’s Studio in 2005, and most recently was an official selection of the 2006 Seattle Festival of Improvisational Theater.
STIMULUS is directed by Jason Anfinsen, a founding ensemble member and artistic director of Jerk Alert Productions. “I refuse to have anything to do with those weirdoes. Everything we work on in rehearsal, they flagrantly abandon during the performances. I have taught them the rules and they cleverly illustrate how to break them.”
